Notes: An Essay concerning Human Understanding was created by file comparing the 12th edition with the Fraser edition and arbitrating discrepancies with the 4th (the last lifetime edition) and 5th editions. Two Treatises of Government was created by file comparing the 12th edition against the 1714 and 1728 editions, with two out of three arbitrating discrepancies. Page numbers were drawn from the Nidditch and Laslett editions (the standard editions) for the two works.

Some Thoughts concerning Education is drawn from the 3d edition, with the 4th and 5th edition additions included (following Yolton's 1989 Oxford University Press edition in this regard). Essays on the Law of Nature (Latin and English translation) reproduces the 1954 Oxford University Press edition. Of the Conduct of the Understanding reproduces the 1901 Oxford University Press edition. All other texts are drawn directly from the 12th edition.
